   Install crushing, screening, and sorting equipment

   The core line separates and processes debris: a crusher and screens turn concrete and masonry into graded recycled aggregate, and sorting (manual, magnetic, and increasingly automated) pulls metal, wood, cardboard, and drywall into streams. Contaminant removal is critical because clean streams sell and dirty ones do not. Size the equipment to your expected inbound tonnage.

   Build contractor inbound and material off-take

   Your suppliers are demolition contractors, builders, roofers, and haulers who would otherwise pay landfill rates; win them with lower tipping fees, convenient location, and diversion documentation they need for green-building credits. Your buyers are construction firms and aggregate users for recycled base material, plus recyclers for the metal, wood, and cardboard. Line up both before scaling.

   Track diversion, contamination, and margins

   Landfill-diversion rates matter for both marketing and, in some markets, regulation, so document them. Watch contamination closely because it degrades material value and can raise disposal costs for the residual you still must landfill. Manage the spread between tipping-fee-plus-material-revenue and processing-plus-residual-disposal cost; that spread, not volume alone, is the business.
