   Revenue usually blends fees (gate or service fees to accept the material, often below landfill cost or funded by diversion programs) with sales of recovered components. Some streams lean on producer-responsibility or state programs that pay for recycling. Understand the funding landscape for your stream, because the fee side often carries the economics more than the material side.

   Target generators and jurisdictions

   Your customers are the businesses and institutions generating the stream (hotels and mattress retailers, flooring contractors, builders, solar and wind operators) plus jurisdictions with diversion mandates or landfill bans on that material. Position as the solution to a disposal headache they currently have no good answer for. Regulatory pressure is often your best sales ally.

   Scale within and beyond the niche

   Once you prove the model on one stream in one region, you can expand geographically or add adjacent hard streams using similar skills. Owning a neglected niche gives you pricing power and low competition, and early diversion mandates tend to spread, growing your market. Depth on a hard problem is a durable position that generalists will not easily contest.
