   Meet product-safety and worker-safety rules

   Household plastics face product-safety rules (and stricter ones for any item that contacts food, which triggers food-contact material requirements on resin and colorants). Injection molding is heavy machinery under worker-safety (OSHA) rules, with real burn, crush, and fume hazards to control. Requirements and any plastics regulations or incentives vary by country; confirm yours.

   Sell through wholesalers and regional retailers

   Bulky, low-value plastic goods are expensive to ship far, which is your regional advantage. Sell to wholesalers, discount and dollar retailers, hardware and housewares stores, and distributors, plus private-label runs for retailers who want their own branded housewares. Recurring wholesale accounts and private label beat one-off orders.

   Run on cycle time, material, and machine utilization

   Injection molding profit is a function of cycle time (seconds per part), material cost per part, and how fully the machine runs. Track cost per unit, scrap and regrind, and machine utilization. Margins commonly land 10 to 25 percent; a small maker wins on freight advantage, recycled positioning, private label, and running the machines near full utilization.
