   Master the integration challenge

   A mobile MRI coach is a multi-ton scanner integrated into a road-legal trailer with RF shielding, structural support for the magnet, climate control, cryogen (helium) management, a shore-power and generator interface, and a safe, accessible patient environment. This is the hard core of the business: heavy-vehicle fabrication plus medical-imaging integration. Prove you can do it to spec before you take orders.

   Partner with scanner manufacturers

   You are integrating scanners made by GE HealthCare, Siemens, Philips, Canon, or United Imaging into your coaches, so relationships and technical documentation from those manufacturers matter. Decide whether you install customer-supplied scanners or source them, and how warranty and service responsibilities split. The scanner is the most valuable component in the build.

   Meet road, safety, and imaging standards

   Coaches must be road-legal (weight, axles, DOT requirements), meet RF-shielding and MRI-safety standards so the unit images correctly and safely, and satisfy the accreditation expectations of the operators who will run them. Build to the standard the end market is accredited against, or the coach cannot be used.

   Sell to leasing companies and operators

   Your customers are mobile MRI leasing and rental companies and operators, not hospitals directly. They buy new builds, buy used-coach refurbishments, and buy upgrades (swapping in a newer or higher-field scanner into an existing coach). Upgrades and refurbishment are a valuable recurring line beyond new builds.

   Manage the project and capital cycle

   Each coach is a large, months-long, capital-intensive project, and demand is cyclical with the imaging equipment cycle. Manage work-in-progress, supplier lead times, and cash carefully, because a few large projects dominate your book. Deposits and milestone billing protect your cash position.

   Note the adjacent businesses

   Your buyers (leasing companies) and their buyers (operators) are separate cards in this ecosystem, as is third-party scanner service. Understanding the whole chain (builder to leasing company to operator to hospital) helps you position where the durable margin is. You build the asset others rent and run.
