   This trade kills the unqualified: loads weigh tons and swing over people. Rent cranes with operators per job at first; owning cranes is a later capital tier of this same trade, and many successful riggers never own one.

   Clients will demand certificates for general liability, riggers liability (covering the load itself while lifted), inland marine (the load in transit), commercial auto, and workers compensation rated for this work.    Price crew-and-equipment with minimums

   The trade commonly bills $250 to $500 per hour for a foreman-led crew with standard rigging gear, with four-hour minimums, mobilization billed separately, and cranes, engineered lift plans, and permits passed through. Small projects commonly land in the $3,500 to $30,000 range end to end. Walk every site before quoting; the surprises (soft floors, door widths, overhead obstructions) are where jobs lose money.

   Plant and facility maintenance managers, machine tool dealers who need every sold machine delivered and set, industrial auctioneers, general contractors on plant projects, and outage contractors during shutdown season. One flawless move (on time, level, aligned, zero damage) makes you the name that gets called for the next decade of that plant's projects.

   Grow into millwright and outage scopes

   Setting the machine leads naturally to leveling, aligning, and installing it (millwright work), then to plant relocations and scheduled outage support where crews and equipment book weeks in advance at premium rates. That is the path from a two-person crew to a firm with recurring plant contracts, and where this trade plugs into the power industry's maintenance calendar.
