Competing on responsiveness (same-day admissions, nights-and-weekends reliability) beats competing on marketing lunches.

   Institutionalize compliance and bereavement

   Hospice carries continuous survey exposure, aggressive federal fraud enforcement, and quality reporting requirements; a compliance officer role, mock surveys, and airtight documentation are operating costs, not options. Bereavement support for families (required for at least a year after each death) is both a condition of participation and, done generously, the most durable reputation your agency will ever build.
