   An identity-based network only works if it is genuinely of the community, not built at it. Write community-fit rules, staff moderation with people who understand the culture and language, and never let community-fit become a shelter for hate or illegal content.

   Monetize in community-appropriate ways

   Identity networks usually monetize through paid memberships or supporter tiers, a commerce take-rate on community goods and services (cultural products, events, businesses), directories of community-owned businesses, sponsorships from brands that authentically serve the community, and paid events (religious, cultural, diaspora gatherings). Advertising is rarely the right primary lever; loyalty and belonging monetize better than attention here.

   Carry the full legal load across languages and borders

   Diaspora communities span countries, so you may face GDPR (Europe), the DSA and UK Online Safety Act (those users), COPPA (US users under 13), and multiple jurisdictions at once, plus mandated CSAM scanning everywhere you host uploads. Multilingual moderation is both a product feature and a compliance necessity. Get legal and privacy footing that matches the actual geographic spread of your community.
