   Turn the judgment into named products a company can buy: a one-time clinical safety review of a tool before launch, an ongoing advisory retainer (a set number of hours a month as their clinical partner), and a research collaboration where you help design or interpret a study. Clear offers with clear scope close faster than open-ended consulting, and they let a startup say yes without a six-month procurement process.

   Make ethics and scope your signature, not your fine print

   Your value to a serious AI team is precisely that you will tell them the hard truth: where a claim is not supported, where a design could harm a vulnerable user, where informed consent and data privacy are not good enough, and where the regulatory line is. Never lend your name to an outcome claim the evidence does not support, and put your standards in writing. The teams worth working with will pay more for the partner who protects them from their own blind spots, and the ones who want a rubber stamp are the ones to walk away from.

   Find the buyers where they gather

   The buyers are digital mental health startups, digital therapeutics companies, health-focused AI labs, academic research groups, and larger companies adding mental health features. Reach them by being visible in the places they look: a clear consultant site, a point of view published on LinkedIn or in a short article, a talk at a digital health or AI event, and warm introductions from your clinical network. One well-argued public piece on responsible AI in your clinical lane can do more than a hundred cold emails.

   Price for expertise, and protect yourself in the contract

   This is judgment sold as time, so price it like the scarce thing it is: a day rate for reviews, a monthly retainer for ongoing advisory, or a project fee for study work, in the ranges advisory clinicians command, not therapy-session rates. Use a real consulting agreement that covers scope, confidentiality, intellectual property, indemnification, and a clear statement that your advice is professional consultation, not clinical care of any individual.    Build a reputation that compounds

   In a niche this young, the early credible voices become the names everyone calls. Keep publishing your point of view, present your collaborations (with permission and privacy protected), and consider whether your work is pointing toward something bigger, your own research institute, a standard, a small advisory firm with other clinicians. The first engagement is a foot in the door; the reputation you build around it is the business.
