Where do the rates come from?
From the Exchange Rate API (open.er-api.com), a free public source of mid-market reference rates that refreshes daily. Every result on this page shows the provider's own last-updated timestamp, so you always know exactly how fresh the number is.
Is the rate I see the rate my bank will give me?
No, and any converter that says otherwise is not being straight with you. These are mid-market reference rates: the midpoint between buy and sell prices. Banks, cards, and transfer services add their own margin and fees on top, so the amount you actually pay or receive will differ a little.
