What 90,500 People a Month Are Actually Asking When They Search How Do I Make Money

Unleash Your Ideas

Here is something that stopped me when I found this data.

Every month, approximately 90,500 people search "how do I make money" on Google. Another 74,000 search "how do I make money fast." That is 164,500 searches in a single month. Just on those two phrases.

And here is what I want you to understand about those searches, because I do not think it is what it looks like on the surface.

Most of those people are not lazy. They are not looking for a shortcut. The research on the psychology of money search behavior tells us something different. When someone searches "how do I make money," they are usually in one of two places.

They are either overwhelmed by their current financial picture and looking for a way out of it. Or they have something they want to build, something they want to create or offer to the world, and they do not yet know how to turn it into income.

Both of those are completely different conversations. And the internet, for the most part, gives them the same answer. Side hustles. Drop shipping. Start a YouTube channel. Sell on Etsy. The same recycled list, dressed up in a different headline.

But those answers do not work for most people. Not because the answers are wrong, but because they are not answers to the actual question. The actual question is not "what is a side hustle I can do?" The actual question is "what do I have, what am I good at, and what is the most direct path from here to more money?"

That is a math problem. And math problems have real answers.

Here is how the math actually works. If you want to make an extra $2,000 a month and you have a skill or knowledge that other people would pay for, you need to answer three questions. What would someone pay me for, specifically? How much would they pay per session, project, or month? How many of those would I need to hit $2,000? That is it. Three questions. The answer to those three questions is your income plan.

The reason most people never get there is because they skip the first question. They start with "what side hustle should I do" instead of "what do I already have that the market will pay for." And those two questions lead you to very different places.

Think about what you know, what you do, what you have done so far in your life, either professionally or just as a person navigating the world. What would someone else pay you to teach, do, or guide them through? That thing exists. It exists in almost every person. The goal is to find it and put a number on it.

A question I want you to sit with: what is one thing you know better than most people you personally know? Not globally better. Just in your circle. In your experience. What do you know?

There is a very good chance that is worth something to someone.

And if you want to run the math on what that something could actually earn you, the How Much Can I Make? Revenue Calculator on Unleash Your Ideas does exactly that. You put in what you are selling and at what price, and it tells you what that pays monthly and annually.

The search was a beginning. Come here to actually run the numbers on your own money.
